Secret Agent Lab
The Mad Science Secret Agent Camp is a fun journey into the world of detection, spy science, and forensics. Over the course of 5 days, campers will experience all kinds of cool science and take home a scientific project each day. Throughout the week they will help Headquarters discover who the sleep agent is and learn the skills to eliminate, detect and capture the spy!
Day 1: Spy Academy
Children discover cryptology—how to decipher numbers to send secret messages to their friends! They learn code language just like computers do and discover and explore many different spy tools that our used in the field. They will receive their very own spy tool to take home.
Day 2: Sleuths on the Scene
Discover how to send secret messages to your friends using special codes! Children learn how to talk with numbers, just like computers, and create their very own code "crackers". Children learn actual forensic science techniques in this fun-filled, science-sleuth program. They can practice detective skills like Morse code, sign language and braille. They will learn about secret codes and how to crack them with the cool Take-Home code breaker.
Day 3: Discover Detection
Children join the Mad Science Bureau of Investigations to sniff out forgeries and counterfeits! They will take a close look at handwriting analysis and how UV light can discover things not seen with the naked eye. They will look at crime scenes and how the evidence can help us to solve crimes. They can practice theses skills at home with their very own Scene Solver.
Day 4: Funky Forensics
Children follow Sherlock’s footsteps to learn what tracks n’ trails can teach us! They find out how bugs, foot prints and Ink from a pen can make a big break in a case. They can create their own crime scene with their take-home case stamper.
Day 5: Science of Security
Children are on their final day of solving a crime. Today they will look at Finger printing and blood typing. Students will also test their skills as a witness by using facial recognition. They will test their memory skills and get their very own agent profile.
Yes we are Rocket Scientists! And you can be too! Blast to the top of the class with an in depth look at all things ROCKET! The week will fly by as we travel through time looking at the earliest flying machines right up to modern day rocket launches. We’ll cover it all. Become a Junior Aviator and discover the principles of flight and aerodynamics. Zip up your spacesuit for a planetary tour while we investigate the wonders of our very own Milky Way. Join your fellow astronauts as we send an awesome Mad Science rocket to the moon…well at least into the sky! As Mad Science Technicians, you will build rockets, parachutes and other incredible flying machines. It will be a blast!
Day 1: Rocket Scientists
Children will explore the fundamentals of aerodynamics in this hands-on program about how things fly. From the basic principles of flight to building airplanes, testing them, to hovercraft and balloon helicopter building, children will understand what makes things fly and how different types of aircraft fly. Campers will take home various paper airplane designs, balloon helicopters, and boomerangs. Children will also get a wild ride on a hovercraft.
Day 2: Up, Up and Away
This program will explore the role that wind and the movement of air plays on simple flying devices such as kites, hot air balloons and parachutes. Children will experiment with air pressure, parachutes and build their own kites and parachutes during this hands-on look at early flight.
Day 3: Mission Control
Campers will learn about the history of NASA’s rocket program and will build their own galactic mobiles while they talk about how the galaxy can be explored via rocket flight. What is the Milky Way and how do we know what’s up there? They will explore the celestial sphere, learn about celestial navigation and build their own sundial while discovering the wonders of the Milky Way.
Day 4: Rocket Propulsion & Recovery
Rockets can travel into space but how are they propelled and how are they recovered? Campers will explore the concepts of propulsion and recovery systems through various hands-on activities. Sir Isaac Newton was very curious about how things move. Discover Newton’s Laws of Motion and something called inertia in this hands-on program all about motion. Children will experiment to learn how inertia works and how gravity is a physical force that keeps all objects “stuck” to the Earth. They will look at different forces and how they are important when building flying machines. Children will build their very own Skyhawk to take home.
Day 5 Go For Launch!
The final day in this week long program will focus on rocket transportation, rocket staging and advanced rocket launches. Campers will learn the fundamentals of rocketry throughout this day including the parts of a rocket, the stages of rocket flight and how Newton’s third law applies to a rocket traveling to space. The children will build their own Skyblazer rockets and experiment with water rockets.
Become a Mad Science chemist as you learn all about the chemistry of things that you encounter everyday in your house and school. Discover how chemical reactions are everywhere and how you can figure out if a chemical change has occurred right before your very eyes. Mix, mush and brew together different chemicals to create things you can use in this hands-on chemistry lab.
Day 1: Junior Reactors
Learn to recognize chemical reactions and mix up a few reactive ingredients for some sensational results! Hop on board the chemistry express for a high speed science experiment! Perform instantaneous experiments, watch for bubbling, color changing, temperature rising experiments that might change into something completely new!
Day 2: Sticky and Slimy
Explore the exciting world of polymers, the chemical reactions we use to create them and the inner workings of silly putty. Transform two regular liquids into an oozing batch of your very own slime... Stick it to the walls and push the power of tape to the limits! Build a bond with glue and get attached to all the stickiest stuff you can find!
Day 3: pH Phactor
Slide down the colorful pH scale and dip into the world of acids and bases! Explore the pH extremes with your Reaction Tube in what sure-to-be a popping experience! Discover whether liquids found in your home are acids or bases using your own personal pH paper!
Day 4: Radical Reactions
What holds atoms and molecules together? What happens during chemical reactions? These questions are answered while campers study physical and chemical reactions in depth. These reactions include those that emit heat (exothermic), those that require heat (endothermic), those that proceed at a very fast pace and reactions that occur in spite of the fact they shouldn’t!
Day 5: Glow Show
Discover amazing things that glow bright in the dark. Probe the properties of light and explore some unusual applications of glow-in-the-dark technology! Experiment with the science of phosphorescence and make your own Glowing reaction!
